Lye Gain Hard Fought Away Win at Worcester

Lye Town gained a hard fought away win at Worcester on Tuesday afternoon

Lye started the game on the front foot and went ahead in the 4th minute when Joe Palmer scrambled the ball home from close range. The home side then put the Flyers under pressure creating a number of opportunities but the Lye defence held firm

Lye hit back in the 19th minute with central defender Sam Hall heading wide from close range. On 21 minutes Worcester equalised: Taylor Randles effort was saved by Lye keeper Catlow, but Dylan Hart was on hand to tap in the rebound. On 30 minutes Lye went close to going back in front when Meacham rose high from a corner but his header went wide

With the last kick off the half Lye went back in front, a Billingham free kick caused mayhem in the Worcester six yard box and Morgan Owen was on hand to tap home

Half Time: Worcester 1 Lye Town 2

Lye started the second half on the front foot in the blustery conditions with Worcester finding it difficult to break down the Lye defence. The game burst in to life in the 70th minute, Billingham cut in from the right and his left footed effort has the keeper beaten but is headed off the line by Stoddard

Lye defend well until the 93rd minute when Worley finds space, his powerful drive is well saved by Catlow diving full length to his right
